First Post on the Blog

This is a place where I can get my thoughts out there on all sorts of issues (work, home, family etc.) I'm looking forward to getting enough information on it to where this blog may actually provide some higher level of value to the on-line community (in addition to fueling my need for an outlet to broadcast my thoughts).

How Did We Get Here?

I think it started thirty some odd years ago. I was 10-ish and our neighbors in the tiny town of Linesville, PA were Harry and Pauline. He was the mailman and she was the best cook in Northwestern PA. Every day after school I was supposed to check in with Pauline and every day she was cooking something that made her house smell like Heaven. Pauline didn't say much - she just kind of made sounds.

Me: "Pauline! I think the cutest boy in school likes me! He said hello to me today!!!"
Pauline: "OOOooo"

Me: "Pauline! I just got back from school and I got straight As!"
Pauline"Aaaaaay!"

Me: "Pauline! I just crashed my bike in front of your house, landed right on my crotch and had to claw my way up your driveway to get here."
Pauline: "Aaaaawwww."

You get the picture.

Pauline was always making jam, canning pickles, baking bread, making pies, cooking a roast, etc. and I would just sit there and make my pot holders out of the stretchy fabric and my spiky square loom. That is where it started. And here is where I am today... I have uprooted my entire family (husband and two sons) from just outside of Washington, DC to about 2o minutes away from Linesville, PA where I grew up.
